I am very tempted by this product. What will make me buy it? More information on characters classes, combat, and monsters. This sounds like the kind of game I will want to play.
The best source of detailed information, based on actual play, about classes, combat and monsters are on message forums. Here are some good ones:

Naturally, the selling point stressed the most is the one that worries me: The lack of a grid. My personal experience, with my gaming group (as in “how the game runs for you and your friends in your personal campaign. “), is that removing the grid doesn’t speed up combat: It turns us all into four year olds. “The orc shot you!” “Nuh-uh, I was behind the rock!” “Were not!” “Were too!”
Everything else — especially the Arduin comparison — really interests me. How hard would adding basic grid rules be?
It would be a possible to add a grid rule – the game uses three abstracted ranges. Depending on your desire for crunch it might be a bit of work to make sure that abilities which use ranges are more specifically detailed.

When will the downloads be available? I already preordered and am now waiting for them to become available.
Before the end of the month. We will email.
So, from what I can make out, this is d20 4th Edition D&D tweaked.
Not my thing at all.
You could say this is d20 4th Edition D&D *fixed*, given that it has all the good parts of 4th Edition AND it addresses the bad parts as well, since classes no longer are “samey”, spells are more open-ended, wizards get a lot of cantrips, combat is streamlined and default is gridless (no mention of speed or measurement at all). Plus the math is scaled down, minions are more “realistic” in that they no longer have “1 HP and no damage on a miss”, and non-combat mechanics AND character background given focus.
But if your trouble with 4th Edition D&D is that you dislike the “big damn heroes” approach, then yeah, it’s not going to be your thing without significant houseruling. It should still be a good source to mine ideas from though :)
I, for one, aim to have a copy of the rules as soon as I can afford it :D
