13th Age GM Book NPC sampleThe Resource Book

The resource book includes advice, guidance and rules for:

  • Using icon relationship rolls, with variations on the icon roll mechanic and examples of how benefits and complications can work in play
  • Creating 13th Age adventures on the spot, with zero preparation
  • Running montages (introduced in Organized Play, and expanded here)
  • Incorporating terrain into battles, including creating environments and locations for different tiers of play
  • Building better battles
  • Helping players craft useful and interesting backgrounds, with advice on handling backgrounds that seem too powerful or too weak
  • Creating memorable NPCs, with a sampling of icon-related NPCs—each with a brief description, Three Things that bring them to life in player’s minds, and suggested monster roles and initiative to guide GMs in building them out using the DIY monster rules

Looks superb, and sounds like the content is going to be just as fantastic too. Just a couple of quick questions …

    1) What size will the poster map be?
    2) What’s the probable ETA on this? This year? Six months? This time next year?

    Many thanks!

  2. G. says:

So, is this a “package” or two products? I’m not interested in the Portrait Screen, but the resource book sounds nice.

  3. Jefferson Dunlap says:

any idea of an ETA? Early or late next year?

  4. John says:

What kind of information will be contained on the screen?

  5. Clark says:

Is the resource guide 32 or 64 pages? (The post above says both.)

  6. Mikhail says:

Will it be possible to buy just the pdf? I’ve never found much use for GM screens.

  7. […] Here’s another vote for being able to purchase the PDF on its own. I don’t play 13th age, but am using some of the tools from it in my D&D 5e campaign (one unique thing, icons, etc) – so the GM screen is of no value, the PDF of great value.

I don’t need the gm screen.
But, I want to the resource book.
Can I purchase the pdf only version?
