The Dracula Dossier: Deck of NPC cards

A Secret History Unearthed. A Legendary Horror Walks Again.

The Dracula Dossier is an epic improvised campaign for the Night’s Black Agents Roleplaying Game. Do your Agents have what it takes to face the Lord of the Undead himself?

The Dracula Dossier follows in the fully improvisational path of the award-winning The Armitage Files campaign. Players follow up leads in the margins

of Dracula Unredacted, a rare edition of Bram Stoker’s masterpiece that reveals the terrifying truth behind the fiction. They’ll chase down the real characters from Stoker’s novel, their descendants in the present, and the British agents caught in the backblast. Directors combine these leads and notes with pre-prepared elements in the Director’s Handbook.

The Director can use these Dracula Dossier cards in whatever purpose best fits with their style of play. Some examples include:

  • For visual reference, to aid the players when they reach an encounter or meet an NPC
  • As part of a web of clues on a corkboard on the wall, with connected cards linked with string to build up a map of the Conspiracy
  • To generate random encounters – shuffle the deck, and see who or what the players encounter
  • To generate the latest Conpiracy victim – show the players which NPC’s life is at stake tonight if they fail in their mission
  • To add backstory when the players visit a familiar city
  • To generate the game’s Conspyramid
  • To deal a Tarot of Dracula, using the instructions included with the card deck

Datavisualising the Dracula Dossier

If you hang around my social media presence (or Ken’s, whose twitterings are to mine as Dracula is to a small fruit bat), you may have seen this funky diagram floating around. It’s a map of every (or nearly every) node in the Dracula Dossier and the connections between them. I ostensibly built it as […]

31 Nights of Dractober: Dracula Untold (2014)

Dracula Untold (2014) Director: Gary Shore Dracula: Luke Evans Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a shooting star! It’s a FIST OF BATS! This latest effort by Universal to revitalize their once-glorious monster universe franchise casts a cape-bedecked Vlad the Impaler as half combat-god Batman (“sometimes the world doesn’t need a hero […]

31 Nights of Dractober: Dracula 3000 (2004)

Dracula 3000 (2004) Director: Darrell James Roodt Dracula: Langley Kirkwood A Warning to the Curious: This is the worst film I have watched for this project. By far. Compared to this movie, Billy the Kid vs. Dracula is Unforgiven. IMDB users have rated it the 37th worst film of all time. It is not “so bad […]

31 Nights of Dractober: Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992)

Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992) Director: Francis Ford Coppola Dracula: Gary Oldman Whatever happened to Francis Ford Coppola? It beggars the imagination that the director who made five masterpieces in ten years (Patton, The Conversation, Godfather I and II, Apocalypse Now) also made this chemical fire of a film. Even the uneven Eighties Coppola was better than this, […]

View From the Pelgrane’s Nest – Sept/Oct 2020

Current News: The Dracula Dossier in the Bundle of Holding Long-term readers of See Page XX will know about my very personal connection with the Dracula Dossier, and it still remains one of the Pelgrane projects I’m most proud of. The two-book core set (The Dracula Dossier Director’s Handbook, and Dracula Unredacted) together form a complex […]

View from the Pelgrane’s Nest – November 2018

Hallowe’en is sadly over, but this month, it’s our printers who’ve been largely horrifying me, with tales of a 10% increase in paper prices. This has generated some hair-raising quotes for our upcoming books, specifically impacting the printing of The Yellow King RPG. Kickstarter backers will be unaffected, but it may make the final book collection […]

See Page XX – December 2017/January 2018

Happy new year! If your 2018 resolutions involve learning how to run games – or improving your existing GM skills – we’ve joined up with our good friends at Monte Cook Games and Atlas Games for New Gamemaster Month. Starting Tuesday, January 9th, we’ll run a month-long seminar in the form of twice-weekly posts, teaching […]

View from the Pelgrane’s Nest: December 2017/January 2018

This will be a short and snappy View. The Dragonmeet convention was a great success – we sold more books than ever before, and hosted a jam-packed investigative masterclass seminar. Gareth ran Fall of Delta Green for the entire Pelgrane crew. PAX Unplugged has the potential to grow to be a top-tier RPG convention, matching […]
