Heaven in a Wild Flower

System: Trail of Cthulhu

Authors: Matthew Sanderson

Deadline: May 31st

Description:

In late 1931, Professor Harold Bradley, a botanist, was part of a scientific team sent by the National Geographic Society to document the impact of the devastating Central China Floods. In their travels across the disaster stricken region, they arrived in Lanzhou. Here, Bradley spotted a garland of flowers hanging in the window of a small herbalist shop. The centrepiece of the garland was a red camellia that Bradley believed was a cutting of a Middlemist Red, the rarest flower on Earth, originally native to China but now thought extinct.

A year later, and funded out of his own pocket, Professor Bradley is about to mount a small expedition into central China, via Lanzhou, to find the Middlemist Red. The reward will be tremendous if he can find the flower in its natural habitat, but the Professor needs professionals to verify the discovery and document their journey.

The truth, or something like it
