Ashen Stars Character Builder

DC has been working on an Ashen Stars version of the free Black Book character generator. It will be fully ready for testing next Monday. It will include Groundside and Warpside assignments along with an indicator as to how suitable your character is for the job – Techo with Systems Repair 2? Fine! Consider it a roleplaying opportunity. It’s also starting to show signs of a visual overhaul, something that should be complete by the end of the month – feedback and testers always welcome.

Dreamhounds of Paris

System: Trail of Cthulhu

Author: Robin D. Laws

Duration: 6-8 sessions

Deadline: 7th November

Description:

Dreamhounds of Paris is the Dreamlands book for people who hate the Dreamlands. The players are prominent surrealists, their rivals, and occult adversaries, fighting to control the Dreamlands and thus alter human consciousness. The fractious, iconoclastic surrealists were the premiere troublemakers of the intellectual scene of 1930s Paris. Andre Breton, their ideological enforcer, considered the movement not an art or avant garde pursuit, but an exercise in literally changing the human spirit. The exploration of dreams was but one part of this quasi-mystical pursuit. In Dreamhounds of Paris, top surrealists–but never the hyper-rational Breton himself–not only discover a way of breaking through to the Dreamlands by randomly walking the streets of the city. They discover that their powerful imaginations allow them to reshape its oneric geography. Soon the Dreamlands look more like something envisioned by Lautreamont than Dunsany–then they’re overrun by melting watches, ants streaming from giant hands, and bowler-hatted men whose faces can never be seen.

Author: Steven S. Long

Duration: 1-2 sessions

Deadline: 7th October

Description:

Famed explorer Roy Chapman Andrews leads one final expedition into the harsh Gobi Desert of Mongolia in search of fossils. His true hope is to find evidence that humanity evolved in Central Asia as his academic mentor predicted years ago. When his latest expedition uncovers some hominid fossils, he and his colleagues are ecstatic — until members of the expedition start dying horribly. Can the Investigators figure out what’s going on and destroy or escape a menace out of time before they and the rest of the expedition become yet another collection of bones scattered across the desert?

Mythos Expeditions – Mother of Malaria

System: Trail of Cthulhu

Author: Robin D. Laws

Duration: 1-2 sessions

Deadline: 7th October

Description:
Professor H. C. Kelston of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine both loves and hates anopheles mosquitoes. Every day he wakes up thinking about the damnable creatures, so perfectly designed by evolution for fecundity. Kelston seeks a better way to end the disease’s reign of terror—by learning to control, and eventually exterminate, the mosquito itself.
After expeditions to Egypt, Panama, and Greece, Kelston now trains his angry scientific eye on the British colony of North Rhodesia, in whose Busanga Swamp is said to fester the Mother of Mosquitoes.

The investigators prepare to join him on that quest.

Mythos Expeditions – The Jaguars of El-Thar

System: Trail of Cthulhu

Author: Tristan Tarwater

Duration: 1-2 sessions

Deadline: 7th October

Description:
Professor Henry Rutherford Stapleton of the Miskatonic Department of Anthropology is just west of Chichen Itza, working with local Maya people and a few university students at what he calls the Cenote of El-Thar. He is loath to leave his work behind as he has fostered a relationship with the locals and reports he is on the verge of making a very important discovery. To the northwest, ethnolinguist Galina Avenirovna Prokhorov is studying glyphs found in the Temple of the Jaguar King, suggesting it has some connection with the cenote Stapleton is studying. Hurricane season is drawing to a close and Stapleton has requested several more students to aid him in investigating and dredging the cenotes, ruins, and vibrant villages on the Yucatan peninsula.
